HUMAN RESOURCES:

The Institute has a sanctioned Staff strength of 106 of which 98 were in position as on 28th February 2009. Human Resources of the Institute can be broadly divided into two categories, on the basis of the work they are engaged in, viz., Work relating to imparting of Training and Work relating to Administration

The Staff Engaged in Training Related Activities:

The Institute has faculty strength of 31 including the Director. The training activities of the institute are divided into the following broad areas: - CSS Cadre Training Plan: Foundational & Refresher Courses Management Services Refresher Courses Financial Management Personnel Administration Training Techniques Behavioral Techniques Secretarial Courses Peripatetic Training The Faculty of the Institute is mainly drawn from the experienced officers belonging to various Central Services. Besides, it draws upon the expertise of experienced/practicing administrators, University Professors and trainers in other training Institutions. The names of the faculty members and their areas of specialization are given in the page: Faculty. Besides the Faculty, the Institute has sanctioned posts of three Training Associates, who are associated with training related work.

Campus:

The Institute is located in the erstwhile JNU (Old) Campus, opposite Sector-3, R.K. Puram, on the outer Ring Road adjoining Munirka. The Institute and its Hostel is housed in four different blocks, viz. § Administrative Block, § Hexagon(Seminar Halls) Complex, § Library Building, and § Hostel Block No. 1

Offices:

The Administrative office of the Institute and the Offices of the Director and other Faculty Members of the Institute are located in the Administrative Block.

Lecture Halls:

There are, at present 8 Seminar Halls (Classrooms), located in the Hexagon Complex, (popularly called as Seminar halls 1 to 8); 2 Round Conference Halls with a seating capacity of 50 delegates in each and 2 Auditoriums with seating capacity of 80 persons in each, fitted with accessories like White Boards, LCD/OHP Multi-media Projectors. All of these Halls/Auditoriums/Conference Halls are fully air-conditioned. The Institute is also developing 4 more classrooms and a new ICT Laboratory with a capacity of 130 trainees at the Library Building. In addition to these, the Institute has a Committee Room located in the Administrative Block for conducting Faculty and Staff meetings and at times it is also utilized for imparting training. The Institute has submitted a plan to construct a 100-seated fully equipped state-of the-art Conference Room for conducting International and National conferences on Training.

Computers and Computer Laboratory:

The Institute is in the process of upgrading its existing Computer Laboratory to a large 130 workstation based ICT Lab at the Library Building connected with LAN Server through Optical Fibre Cables. The Institute is also upgrading Cyber Facility Spaces for participants at the Administrative Block, Library Building and Hostel Complex.

Library:

The Institute's Library is located in Club Building. The Library has about 18500 general books and 23,600 instructional books. The Reading Room is housed within the Library. Apart from leading Indian Newspapers and periodicals a large number of reputed national and international journals are available in the library. In order to facilitate the trainees and faculty members to make the best advantage of the available study/reference material, the library timings from 0900 hrs to 1900 hrs. Moreover, facility for providing books etc., to participants of short-term courses have also now been provided.

Lodging/Boarding Facilities:

The Institute has a hostel with 88 rooms for the benefit of the out-station participants. The accommodation in the hostel is provided on first come, first served basis.

TRAINING AIDS:

The Institute has been regularly acquiring and utilizing various training aids as a part of its effort to enhance the effectiveness of training. Special care is taken to provide high quality training materials to the course participants. To achieve this, the Institute is equipped with the following training aids and equipment which is being extensively used: AUDIO-VISUAL ¨ Video Projection System ¨ Slide Projector ¨ Video Camera ¨ VCR/TV Monitor ¨ Over Head Projectors ¨ Instructional Films ¨ Public Address System REPROGRAPHIC AIDS ¨ Photo-copiers ¨ Risographic Machine ¨ Cyclostiling Machine

INSTRUCTIONAL FILMS:

The Institute has a library of instructional films and constant efforts are made to add to the collection. These films are quite popular with the participants and it is extensively used in various training programmes.
